Head of Capital Raising

Job Summary

Founders Properties is seeking to hire an experienced and versatile professional to join the firm as the Head of Capital Raising spearheading their institutional capital raising initiatives.

Specifically, this individual will be responsible for raising capital, representing the firm within the domestic institutional investor community and developing relationships with investors and consultants. With an emphasis on developing strategic, long-term investor partnerships, this person will market Founders Properties investment products and capabilities to relevant investors and partners. This individual should bring a thoughtful and responsive approach to working with investors, positioning Founders Properties effectively while gathering actionable feedback to develop and refine successful new products. In every interaction, this person will strive to provide current partners and potential investors best-in-class client service as well as timely information and analyses.

The successful candidate will be a polished and highly motivated professional, with strong technical capabilities, proficiency within real estate, and an entrepreneurial drive. They will bring a track record of raising capital from sophisticated institutional investors and/or deep real estate transactional expertise with clear motivation and ability to interface with investors.

This individual will report to Wade Lau, President and CEO of Founders Properties. While the position would ideally be based in Minneapolis, the team is open-minded geographically.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Spearhead capital-raising efforts by leveraging existing and cultivating new investor relationships with institutional clients across the US, developing a robust understanding of their investment needs and objectives
  • Quickly develop expertise across Founders’ funds and investment strategies
  • Actively contribute to the development of investment products and strategies by providing relevant market insights and feedback
  • Represent the firm at meetings, industry events, and conferences, promoting the firm’s breadth of capabilities
  • Provide input on marketing collateral to ensure that Founders’ story, strategy, and value proposition are conveyed clearly and persuasively

Qualifications

  • 10-20 years of experience in real estate capital raising and investor relations, with a demonstrable track record of achievement
  • Sound technical skills, ideally with exposure to industrial, office and multi-family assets
  • Experience developing a strategic marketing plan for target investor bases, whether by geography or type, to meaningfully contribute to capital raising efforts
  • Current, strong relationships with institutional investors and consultants
  • A track record of both individual and team-oriented successes
  • A results-oriented approach with a strong appetite for closing a sale
  • Excellent presentation skills combined with outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate clearly and credibly several distinct investment strategies
  • The capacity to function as a thought-partner to the product-development team
  • A collaborative nature, including the willingness and ability to build and sustain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A strong work ethic, entrepreneurial drive, and passion for personal growth
  • Impeccable judgment and ethics
  • Willingness to travel significantly for meetings and conferences
  • University degree, preferably in business related field
  • MBA or CFA a plus
